Yes! It's true! Macclesfield is celebrating it's 750th Anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter by Henry III through his son Prince Edward later to become King Edward I (Longshanks). 

So to celebrate this auspicious occasion we have lots planned for the year - an events season from May to September and again in December, with Operas, Pageants, Parades, Beating the Retreat, Ceremonial  Mass Arrow Shoot, Charter Exhibition, Steam Fayre, Barnaby Festival 2011, Hog Roasts, Dances, all kicking off with a Macclesfield Town vs All Stars football match (See timeline page for the schedule of events, and the links pages for further information). Not only that we have commemorative coins in childsafe Pewter of the time in 1261 available, and are getting a special coin struck at the pageant, as well as selling arrows that will be used in the actual shoot for charity. There will be a record attempt at the World's Biggest Tie, Silk FM are supporting us and will be running "a song for Macclesfield" contest, Macclesfield Express who are also celebrating their 200th Birthday are supporting us and running a Time Capsule competition as well as  Help Clean Up Macclesfield campaign.

Lots on, but it takes teams of dedicated people behind the scenes to get these events off the ground, so please show us your support by volunteering, as well as attending the events to raise cash for worthwhile charities.
